Service Description
Carotid artery dissection and vertebral artery dissection is caused by injury to the inner lining of the arteries going up to the brain. This can be caused as a result of a traumatic injury, like a car accident, or chiropractic maneuver. Sometimes it can be a sign of an underlying genetic vascular disease like Marfan's syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos or connective tissue disease. Expert evaluation is often needed. Most of the time medication can be used to treat this condition however rarely sometimes endovascular stenting may be needed to reduce the risk of having a stroke.
