Service Description
Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is a condition in which a clot in a major vein draining blood away from the vein forms. There are many different reasons for this to occur. Patients with this condition can suffer from brain hemorrhage, stroke, severe headaches, or visual disturbances. Sometimes when this condition worsens despite being on blood thinner medication or if the clot volume is large or in the deep veins an endovascular procedure is needed to unclog the vein call thrombectomy. Sometimes people with this condition can develop dural arteriovenous fistulas later on. Follow up imaging is important.
